Hooked is a Sheffield-based short film about resilience, recovery and the people that the healthcare system often forgets.
Inspired by real events, the film follows Jacob, a man whose life begins to unravel after developing an addiction to prescription medication. When his medication is abruptly withdrawn, he finds himself battling withdrawal and a care system that struggles to see the person behind the problem.
Developed with input from people with lived experience and inspired by the story of Caleb Hancock, Hooked is an honest and compassionate exploration of addiction, mental health and the importance of human connection. Through a social realism approach, the film aims to challenge misconceptions and encourage audiences to look beyond labels and see the individual beneath them.
Trying is a comedy-drama series set in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
The series follows Steve, a once-successful television actor whose career has stalled, forcing him to return to the family home that he couldn't wait to escape. Back amongst his eccentric relatives, old tensions quickly resurface as he attempts to rebuild his life whilst navigating the chaos, humour and unexpected comfort of family life.
